London Apsa V Sporting Bengals (6th March). (Gordon Brassed Quarter Finals)
03/10/2012 Sawbridge 1-1 Bengals.
Sporitng came from a goal down to clinch a point and continued the good form on the road. The referee felt the pressure of been assesed and made a meal of a silly incident which lead to both teams reduced to 10 men. Bengal's Kirt O'brien came close in the first half but his effort was saved by the diving Sawbridge keeper. Second half and Sawbridge's long throw finally paid off for them as they took the lead from a resulting long throwing. Bengal bought on sub Ashley Johnson who made a immediate impact and his shot was deflected into the net for the equaliser. Bengal created couple of good chances but wasted them in front of goal. Both teams shared the points and had another player from each team sent off in the second half, the referee clearly feeling the heat.
25/02/2012 BENGALS 0-0 APSA
Sporting Bengals and London Apsa shared the points at Mile End Stadium and a surpringly quite derby between the two local rivals. Bengal Dominated play in the first half but could not turn possesion into goal scoring opportunities and failed to test the ASPA keeper. Apsa responded well in the second half and hit the wood work and had a good 15 minute passage which also saw bengal Captain Ahmed Sent off for Foul Language and reducing the home side to 10 men, however that seemed to spur the Bengal boys on and they finished the game on a high and created couple of good opportunities. Both team shared the points.
18/02/2012 Southend Manor 3-0 Sporting Bengals
Sporitng lost on the roads to league leaders Southend Manor. With key players missing Bengal Struggled to get into their strides and conceaded with 25 minutes of play, a further goal before the break gave Manor the 2 goal lead. Bengal played well in the second half, Stephen and Ash both coming close but could not convert their chances. Manor ended the game and took all three points with 10 minutes of play remaining. Bengal Manager Chowdhury Said, "It was a difficult game against a well organised team. They were the better side and fully deserve their victory. We have to now turn our attention to the big Clash against Rivals London APSA".
01/02/2012 Sporting 2-1 Stanstead
Sporting Bengal ended their bad run of results against Stanstead at Mile End Stadium on a freezing cold night. bengal played the better football and conceaded against the run of play from a direct free kick. Bengal seemed confident and passed the ball well, Foisal Hoque's cross was headed in by Stephen Forbes for the equaliser and Ashley Johnstone scored Sporting's second when Shahed Ahmed's through ball found the debutant. Second half and Bengal should have made easy job of the game and chances wasted by the forwards left the game on the edge. Bengal secured the vital win and Manager Chowdhury Said, " I was glad to have some our key players back for this game and the way we domintated this game against a team who were runners up in the league last year and Winners in 2009-10 showed what we are capable of doing when we are in form. I was really pleased with Ashley's contribution he has given us the spark up front that we have been lacking lately".
28/01/2012 Sporting 3-6 Barking
Sporting loose 9 Goal thriller at Mile End Stadium, Sporting bad run of Form continues loosing to Barking at Home. Sporitng were 3-0 down with 35 Minutes and Responded through a free kick from Anton Lewis on the 43rd Minute. Bengal played alot better in the second Half, Stephen Forbes pulled another back then Shiblu Miah completed the come back to 3-3. Bengal couldn't hold on for a point as Barking came out the blocks and took the lead with only 10 minutes of play remaining, Shahed Ahmed's free kick hit the cross bar and came out and on the break Barking scored their fifth. Game over for Sporting and Barking got another in injury time. Mananger Chowdhury Said, "We defended very poorly today and started the second half well to pull the game back to 3-3 but inexperience showed and we conceaded sloppy goals. Missing 6-7 key players through injury isn't helping us and hopefully we need to end this bad run of form soon".
21/01/2012 Eton Manor 2-1 Sporting
Bengal loose away to Eton Manor FC on Saturday. A poor display on a very poor pitch from Sporting Bengals. 1-0 down after a mistake by keeper Alfie Brincatt gave Manor the lead. Bengal struggled to put any passage of passes together but equalised on the 30th Minute mark, Javier Riveria's through ball found Sadik Ahmed who scored his second of the season. Both his goals this season came against Eton Manor. Sporting struggled on the pitch and in the second half with only 15 minutes left Sporting failed to deal with the Manor Long throws and went 2-1 Down. Bengal created and should have equalised in the last 5 minutes a series of chances was wasted best of the chances falling to leading goal scorer Javier Riveria whose shot from inside the 6 yard box went over the cross bar. A disappointed Bengal Manager said, "It's a bad day for us. We struggled from the begining and couldn't get into the game. We should have still taken a point from this game and disappointed to be returning empty handed, we need to forget about this game and move onto the next game. Nothing much to learn from this permormance today".
18/01/2012 Sporitng 1-0 Clapton
Sporting Bengal played out another local derby against Clapton FC on Wednesday Night. Sporting started the brighter of the two sides and were gulity of missing good oppotunities to take the lead, Stephen beat the off side trap but his shot was saved by the keeper. A series of chances was wasted by the home side and they could have got punished for those wasted chances as Clapton had good chances from their well worked corners. All level at the break and the same pattern continued in the second half, Sporting wasting good chances and Clapton creating good chances from set peices. Changes were made as Foisal and Debutant Jahed came on for Bengals, both made immediate impact as Foisal's shot was saved by the clapton keeper but with 15 minutes remaining Jahed showed why he has been dubbed as one of the most clinical strikers in Tower Hamlets, he scored on his debut and giving Bengals the three points. Manager Chowdhury Said, "It was a frustrating evening seeing how well we were creating these chances but frustrated because we were wasting them. I'm happy for Jahed, injuries had prevented him making his debut earlier in the season but he wasted no time in making a impact he will be a great addition to our squad. I'm really pleased we kept another clean sheet today".
14/01/2012 Sporting 1-2 Bethnal Green
Sporting Lost three points to local rivals Bethnal Green at Mile End Stadium. Not the hype as the previous meeting in December when the two sides met for the FA Vase game but three points at stake. Bethnal Green took the lead after 20 minutes of play, Nana was judged to have handballed the ball inside the area Bethnal captain Ainsley stepped up to give his side the lead. Sporting's best chance of the half went to Sarfraz only for the Bethnal Defender to put a vital tackle in at the last minute. Second half and Sporting started the brighter of the two sides and created a series of chances and on the 70th Minute mark Javier's through ball was finished by Stephen who had a rare striker's role for the afternoon. Bethnal scored the winner with 10 minutes remaining a mistake from a Bethnal corner lead to Sporting loosing all three points. Bengal's Srafraz could have rescued a point for Sporting in Injury time but his header went wide of the post. Manager Mamun Said,"It's always disappointing to loose to your local rivals but we played well enough to take at least a point from the game. Well done to Bethnal Green they played well and took all three points".
07/01/2012 Enfield 0-0 Sporting
Sporting Played out a goal less Draw against the league Champions. Bengal camp left North London disappointed with just the point as good chances were wasted in front of the goal. Javier having the best of the chances when Shahed's ball played him in he went passed the Cent Back and around the keeper but his shot was blocked on the line by the Enfield Defender. Second Half andf the best of the chances going to Sarfraz first Vinny's ball found him inside the area his effort was saved by the keeper and in the last minute of the game Sarfraz failed to convert with his header. Manager Chowdhury said, "It's a shame we couldn't take all three points today considering the chances we created, our keeper hardly had to make any saves during the game which shows how well we defended today".
20/12/2011 Burnham Ramblers 1-2 Sporting Bengals
Sporting Bengal's good form on the road continues as they collect all three points at Burnham. Sporting having to make the long journey on a busy Tuesday evening had saveral first team players missing but the Bengal boys didn't let that stop them collecting three points. First half and few chances for both teams best of the chances going to Burnham but Keeper Shamim pulled off couple of great saves to keep the scoreline at 0-0. Bengal played better in the second half and Stephen and Sarfraz both coming close but failed to convert. Sarfraz thought he had won a penalty for Sporting but the referee decided to over rule his linesman and deny Bengal that Penalty. Burnham took the lead with only 20 minutes remaining, sporting caught on the break. Bengal responded well and pressured the Burnham Defence, the pressure finally paid off when Shiblu Miah's goal bound shot was tapped in by Sarfraz to bring the tie level. Only 10 minites of play remaining Bengal Captain Shahed Ahmed's shot from outside the box found the bottom corner beyond the reach of the diving Burnham Keeper. Burnham presssed for the equaliser but bengal defended well to ensure three points coming to East London.
07/12/2011 Sporting 2-0 Takely (Gorden Brassed Cup)
Sporitng Bengal secured a place in the quarter Finals of the Gordon Brassed Cup on Wednesday Night at Mile End Stadium. Bengal took the lead after 5 minutes Javier's through ball to Prince Pippin who slotted his 3rd Goal of the season. Bengal doubled the lead on the 20th Minute when Foissal Hoque's shot hit the post before rolling into the net. Bengal should have extended that lead but failied to maximise their goal scoring chances. Takely had couple of half chances before the break but the Bengal Defence stood firm. Second Half both teams creating good chances but nither able to convert the chances. Bengal will progress into the Quarter Finals of the Cup. Manager Chowdhury Said, "It was important to get a positive result tonight after the last week when we lost both the derby matches. The boys started really well and we fully deserve our win tonight. Only downside was the injuries we picked up tonight, Prince and Saf both hurt quite badly and we hope it's nothing long term".
03/12/2011 Bethnal Green 5-2 Sporting Bengal (FA Vase 3rd Round)
Sporitng's Vase run came to an end to Local rivals Bethnal Green United at Mile End Stadium. Bengal got off to a bad start and conceading in the first 4 minutes of the game. Bengal could have equalised straight but a goal line clerance and good keeping denied Bengals. Bethnal Green always looked Dangerous on the break and Kingsley Francis the Bethnal Winger who last year was playing for Blackpool Reserves was creating chances for Michael Beggs who ended the afternoon with a hatrick. Bengal conceading Three more goals in the half and having left back Sadik Ahmed Sent off for professional Foul.
Second Half and bengal down to 10 men gave it a go and pulled a goal back from the Spot Javier Riveria putting the spot kick away, Michael Beggs completed his hatrick on the hour for Bethnal but Bengal refused to lay down and scored their second of the afternoon, Kurt's header finding Centre Half Aaron Hutchins who scored his first of the season. Good goal Keeping by Bethnal Keeper Abraham Mahmmood kept Bengals out. Manager Chowdhury Said, "It's bitterely disappointing to have lost in this manner and at half time the tie was over with us 4 goals down and a man down. The boys showed good charcter in the second half and created good chances and pulled couple of goals back but were denied further goals by their keeper Abraham who is a top keeper. He pulled off some good saves at curcial times. Michael and Kingsley were handful and in the first half we just couldn't defend against that pair. The Sporting boys will take a lot of pride in reaching the 3rd Round and hopefully we can continue our good work in the league".
30/11/2011 Bethnal Green 2-1 Sporting Bengals
10 Men Sporting Unable to hold on for a point in front of a record Mile End Stadium Crowd of the season (160).Sporting started the game a bit nervous but soon found their strides and started to knock the ball well. Sarfraz's corners was getting delivered in the right areas but Bengal unable to put any away. 0-0 at half time and a very tight game with few chances for either side. Bengal were reduced to 10 men when the referee judged that Foisal's hand stroke the ball preventing a goal scoring opportunity, Bethnal Green made no mistake with the spot Kick. Bengal didn't let that affect their game too much and pressured for a equaliser and when Full Back Michael Williams found Sarfraz inside the area he made sure of the equaliser to the delight of the Bengal Camp. Bethnal Green pressured the bengal defence for the winner and with 4 minutes remaining the found the net again for the winner. A disappointed bengal camp but proud of the way the Bengal Boys played with 10 men. All set for the Big game on Saturday.
26/11/2011 Sporting 0-2 Southend Manor
Bengal unable to stop Southend's unbeaten league run. Southend took the lead on the 25th Minute, Aaron's tackle and 50/50 challenge fell nicely for the Manor forward whose shot beat Shamim in goal. Sporitng Created good chances Foisal, Vinny and John all came close but Couldn't make the chances count. Southend doubled the lead before the break when Manor winger found the cent forward from the right flank who scored Manor's second of the afternoon. Sporting played really well in the second half and had most of the possession but failed to convert possession into goals. Manager Chowdhury Said, "We should have scored in the second half played really well but failed to take our chances, we played better today then we have done in the last couple of weeks yet we won last two week and couldn't get anything today".
23/11/2011 Bowers 2-3 Sporting Bengals united
Sporting pick up three more points away to Bowers and Pitsea. Work commitment and Injuries forced changes to the line up and debuts were handed to Imrul, Imran and Oliur whom all started for Sporting. Bengal settled well and took the lead when Sarfraz's Corner was headed in by Liton Zaman for his first goal of the season. Sporting Conceaded on the half hour mark, Bowers equalised from the set piece. Bengal restored the lead just before the break when Sarfraz's free kick hit the wall but he followed up the rebound to give Bengal the lead on the break. Sporting further extended the lead when Javier's pass found Foisal for him to score his second of the season and Bengal's third of the game. Bowers had their best spell of the game in the last 15 minutes, Bengal defence stood firm but couldn't deny Bowers a second goal which they scored on the 90th Minute. Manager Chowdhury Said, " It was a difficult game a lot of injurues and other players unavailable because of work I was forced to make a lot of changes, Imran played really well at the back and will soon become a regular member of our squad".
19/11/2011 Mildenhall Town 0-2 Sporting Bengals, FA Vase Second Round.
Sporitng Bengal won 2-0 away to Mildenhall in the second round of the FA Vase cup, this is the first time Sporting have reached this stage of the competition and the reward is a tie against Local Rivals Bethnal Green United who also share Mile End Stadium as the home ground on the 3rd December 2011.
Sporting's second round tie against Mildenhall Town Took place in Suffolk a coach full of players, management and Supporters made their way to Suffolk and were entertained to a good game of football. Mildenhall Had good chances in the first half but were denied by Sporting Keeper Alfie Brincatt who was in fine form. Bengal took the lead on the hour mark Talisman Javier Riveria cleverly flicked the ball over the keeper and defender. Bengal build on that goal and had their best patch of the game creating more chances, Javier was unlucky with his long range effort hitting the post. Substitute Vinny Williams came on and within 2 minutes scored probably the goal of the round when his 30 yard shot hit the top corner. Bengal were pressed back in the last 5 minutes from a series of Mildenhall Corners but the defense stood firm to ensure a clean sheet for Sporting.
Manager Mamun Chowdhury MBE said, "This is a real proud moment for all associated with the club reaching the third round of the FA Vase cup. We didn't play that well today but scored two brilliant goals and defended really well. Sometimes you play well and get nothing from a game and yet some days you have a bad performance but a good result. The tie for the next round is mouth watering and should be a big occasion for Tower Hamlets".

Burnham Ramblers 1-3 Sporting Bengals, FA VASE 1st Round Proper
Sporitng book place in the second round of the FA Vase Cup after winning away to Burnham Ramblers, Sporitng took the lead oon the 20th Minute Safroz Pivano capitilising after a mix up in the Burnham Defence, Bengal should have extended that lead when Captain Shahed Ahmed's effort hit the post. Burnham came close on couple of occasions but Bengal Keeper Alfie Brincatt pulled off a fine save to deny Burnham. Second Half and Burnham pressured the Bengal Defence for a equaliser Bengal Management wasted little time and bought on leading goal scorer John Donougie off the bence and he made a immediate impact as Burnham defenders found it hard to defend against the big man, he gave Bengal the second goal heading in from a Safron Corner. Burnham came close hitting the cross bar from a free kick and soon the pressure paid off and they pulled a goal back with only 5 minutes remaining setting up a edgy finish for Bengals. After taking in the early pressure Sporitng killed the tie off Safron Scoring his second and Bengal's third of the game.
Sporitng will now play Mildenhall Town FC in the second round, Bengal Manager Mamun Chowdhury MBE said, "this is a historic moment for us as these lads are only the second Sporitng team to ever reach the second round proper of this prestigious competion. We fully deserved our win today as we were by far the better side. Safroz has been in outstanding form scoring two and assiting one last Wednesday and doing the same again today is a huge contribution. This is never a easy place to travel to and get a result but boys knew what needed to be done and we did our job very efficiently. Away to Suffolk Based Mildenhall FC, we know little about them but we will do our little research before we travel up to their place".
